To celebrate Fountain Miami’s largest exhibition to date, Fountain is thrilled to introduce Bushwick, Brooklyn’s dopest dance party, Tiki Disco, to Saturday night’s Miami New Times event. As described by Vice Magazine, “Tiki Disco isn’t a disco party or an event sponsored by some shitty brand of booze that you wouldn’t drink unless it was free. It’s a bunch of ragers dancing, and doing it without the forced-fun vibe that’s attached to many organized parties.” Paper Magazine buzzes, “Fountain is always a blast with lots of parties and hip art, plus this year they’re hosting a spin-off of Brooklyn’s Tiki Disco party on Saturday night.”
Fountain’s official Opening Reception will kick the weekend off right on Friday night, with a special DJ set by Mr. JPatt, 1/2 of New York City’s The Knocks. The Knocks, currently on tour in Australia, are fresh off their breakout summer playing Jay-Z’s Made In America Festival, Firefly Music Festival, Electric Forrest, Camp Bisco and touring with Dragonette. As a band, they have shared the stage with such artists as Deadmau5, Skrillex, Big Boi, M.I.A., Sleigh Bells, Tiesto, Martin Solveig, Weezer, Die Antwoord,Two Door Cinema Club, and Calvin Harris – to name a few. From the dark smoky basement at Chinatown’s Le Baron to Fountain’s Wynwood warehouse, Mr. JPatt will provide the soundtrack for NYC-meets-Miami cool.
Returning to Miami for its 7th year, Fountain Art Fair will provide an extensive lineup of unique, alternative art projects, performance art events and music. With nearly 40 exhibitors from around the world, Miami’s 2012 edition will provide a visual display of installation heavy artworks, a true spectacle for art enthusiasts to enjoy.
In 2012, Fountain sets a permanent year round presence in the neighborhood by reaching out to our community and highlighting some of the people and businesses that set an example of social responsibility. Those businesses support sustainable Wynwood culture while embracing friends and neighbors who share in both our uniquely alternative philosophy, our love of sustainable progress and our independent ideology.
Along with 305Green.com, lead sponsor of our new Fountain Community Lounge and ROAM guided street art walking tours, Fountain develops a new series of collaborative sponsorships and community projects with Miami based organizations.
