(September, New York City) – Fountain Art Fair at Mana Contemporary (September 20 – 22), long known for its support of progressive performance art programming, announces its weekend-long performance art schedule. TUYAU, the performance art series curated by Meredith Weber for the fair, will work as a conduit for the artist’s voice and promises to engage the audience in a multitude of shared experiences while creating a platform for artists to take risks that further realize their conceptual ideas.

The Fountain Art Fair schedule also includes a VIP preview to benefit the Detroit Institute of Arts on Friday and a headlining performance from ADULT. on Saturday night. Performance schedule and fair hours below.

The Chicago Reader will support the Fountain Art Fair as presenting media partner and sponsor of the VIP Lounge.  Supporting media partners include ArtSlant, Art Nerd, Artcards, The Art Dossier, NY Arts Magazine, and Monarch Daily.  Chicago favorite and premier beer sponsor Revolution Brewery will add some local flavor to the fair experience, along with VIP Lounge refreshments by Dark Matter Coffee and Nellcôte.

About Meredith Weber –  Meredith Weber is an independent curator living and working in Chicago, IL. Weber is best known for her curatorial work as Happy Collaborationists and her curatorial accomplishments include, but are not limited to, performance art programming for ACRE Residency Summer 2012; performance programming at the Chicago Cultural Center in conjunction with Sic Transit Gloria Mundi , a mid-career survey by Industry of the Ordinary; Chicago Artist Coalition 2013 Curatorial Residency; SAIC’s Visual and Critical Studies Master’s Exhibition. Weber has also worked collaboratively on exhibitions with artist Claire Ashley and most recently as guest curator for Trailer Park Proyects, IPRAC.  Weber is confirmed to contribute 3 curated programs to Chicago Artist Month in October 2013 to take place in Edgewater/Uptown, East Garfield Park and South Shore neighborhoods. Her own work has recently been exhibited at 6018 North, Women Made Gallery, and the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Weber also works as a Program Coordinator in the Youth in Service department at Chicago Cares where she is responsible for planning and implementing curriculum, as well as maintaining and securing new community partners, as part of a large scale service learning program for Chicago youth.

Fountain Times + Location  - Fountain will open with a VIP and Press Preview to Benefit the Detroit Institute of Arts on Friday, September 20 from noon until 7pm and then to the public with a reception until midnight. On Saturday, September 21, we will be open from noon until midnight with ADULT. headlining the evening festivities. The fair will be open on Sunday from Noon until 6pm. Mana Contemporary will host Fountain Chicago at their Chicago-based studios at 2233 S.
